*heaves sigh, drums fingers irritably on desk*

I think I spoke too soon in my last post. Just a few hours after it, the PC succumbed to a virus (I couldn't load my anti-virus software as it refused to install until after I'd uploaded one of the five years' worth of windows updates that have come out since we bought the PC, and sometime during getting online after my last rebuild and finishing uploading the updates, the virus snuck in and corrupted stuff. So my anti-virus could detect viruses, but not remove them.)

So, three days, lots of faffing about with command lines and installation disks and yet another rebuild, and I'm back again. Fingers crossed, it looks like everything works so far.
Seriously, this rebuilding thing is getting very, very old.

The Husband, bless him, said when he got home tonight that he'd just been paid, so if I wanted to spend some money on a new laptop, there was money in his account. There are a ton of other things that should be a higher priority for us to spend money on just now, but I'm seriously tempted.
