Tuesday, 14 June 2005 00:39Less than nineteen and a half hours till my very first U2 gig!
I can't believe I'm finally going to see them. I've loved them ever since I heard 'A Celebration' on the radio back in 1982 and went out and bought the single (one of the few who did - I only found out recently that it's one of the rarest of U2's singles, as it got deleted after 6 months - copies are now worth about £30 each! Not that I would ever sell.)
When I was living over in France for a year in 1983/84, I would listen to 'October' and 'Under a Blood Red Sky' whenever I felt lonely (I remember going into a record shop over there and asking for the latest album by 'Ooh-Deux', only to be told they pronounced it the same way as in English, lol!) I used 'New Year's Day' as lesson material.
'Achtung Baby' gave me a lot of spiritual support when I was going through a tough time and something of a personal struggle. The album just bleeds with the raw pain of Edge's divorce (as we now know in retrospect), but its honesty and struggle and pain were a great source of strength for me.
I lay on the sofa cuddling my baby daughter and sang along to Joshua Tree with her. Both my kids can now sing along to U2 albums. I must be doing something right as a parent *g*
Mysterious Ways may have had a hand in my taking up bellydance - now my second job. (The exact circumstances around my starting bellydance are now lost in the mists of time!) The Zooromancer remix of Salome was certainly the first bellydance solo that I choreographed.
And if it hadn't been for the old 'Zoo' on the original U2.com, I'd never have found my twin, Owl (who I may just possibly meet for the first time tomorrow - keeping my fingers crossed for you m'dear!).
And had it not been for the sexiness that is The Edge, I would never have known the joys of writing erotic fiction ;D
Is it any wonder I'm hyper at the prospect of actually seeing them in person in a mere matter of hours?
(Please keep me away from any caffeine or anything remotely resembling a stimulant, or Alan might just have to scrape me off the walls, since I could well essplode with the excitement.)
*practises deep breathing*
