Monday, 11 December 2006 01:08Letter meme!
Finally got around to doing this one, having been given a letter by
spanderama. It took me ages to think of anything that began with E, including (I am ashamed to admit) number 1 on the list. I will have to hand back my U2.com membership keyfob, negligent fangirl that I am. I can only think that I have been getting too little sleep/not looking at enough pictures of him recently. I shall have to rectify that.
Ten things that begin with 'E':
1) Edge. It shouldn't work. A forty-something, balding, rather quiet guy, with a touch too much body hair (I've never really been into hairy chests) who dresses like a 14-year-old in scruffy jeans, t-shirts and tennis shoes. But nevertheless, he is, to me, one of the sexiest human beings I have ever come across. Beautiful face, beautiful knee-meltingly gorgeous Irish accent, beautifully serene persona combined with intense passion and that wonderful, wonderful music. I just don't have the words ...
2) Egyptian Bellydance. Bellydance has changed my life. Literally. I love doing it so much, and it is possibly the one thing in my life that I know I am really good at (because I get loads of compliments from people who see me dance). I get so much pleasure from it - it is the thing that has given me the most self-esteem of anything I have ever done. I'd never have dreamt I would get so much of a buzz out of performing, me who had always been so painfully shy.
3) Eurythmics. One of my favourite bands. Annie Lennox has such a fantastic voice. And it's always good to see a quine from my neck of the woods being so successful :) (She's from Aberdeen, in case you didn't know.)
4) 'Elevation [Influx Remix]' by U2. Here, listen to it - doesn't it just make you feel uplifted? A wonderful track.
5) Elderflower Cordial. Yummy!
6) 'Echo Beach' by Martha and the Muffins. One of my favourite singles from way back in the dim and distant past. I think I may have the single on vinyl in a box somewhere (but if anyone has a file of it online, I'd love to have a copy!)
7) Elaine. My closest friend at university, and one of my bridesmaids at my wedding. We don't see a lot of each other these days, since we live in different countries now, but I hope we'll always keep in touch.
8) Eze in the south of France. I've never actually been there, but it's where U2 have their villas. And where, according to Bono, he and Edge spent an entire summer there together, which he refers to as their 'summer of love'. Honestly, and people wonder why slash fics get written about them *g*
9) Epic fics. I love fanfiction. And the longer the better, quite often - if it's got as far as double figure in chapters, usually the writer has got a pretty reasonable plot, with a fair amount of character development, and something interesting going on. I mean, look at Hawkmoon - 93 chapters and counting, and every one of them good. I rest my case.
10) Edinburgh. I really like the place - one of my favourite cities. My niece used to have a flat there, which we would borrow for a week or two during the summer when she was on holiday from uni, and we'd take the kids to see the Zoo, and the museums, and all the sights. Sadly, the flat is now sold, so the holidays with free accommodation are no longer an option :(. It's only 2 and a half hours away, so we could feasibly visit it in a day, but it's easier when you have a place to crash. We'll go back someday though.
