Ah, what the heck, you don't get if you don't ask. Don't feel the least bit obliged to look at it.
Step One:
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Billy/Dom icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two:
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Wishlist:
1) A new Edge-themed layout for my LJ. I like the pic I have in the background atm (ooh, sparkly Edge trousers! Edge tum!), and the colour, but it looks a bit cobbled-together. I'd be quite happy with any other hot piccies of the sexiest being on the planet/Irish sex god/genius of a guitarist/enigmatic Zen rock and roll geek (those all refer to the same person, just so as you know. You'd guessed? Right. You know me too well) and/or colour schemes.
2) Some Monaboyd icons. Do you know, I think I only have one Monaboyd icon? I have quite a few of the guys individually, but not enough of them together.
3) Fics *cough*Button Fly*cough*Epiphany?*cough*. Monaboyd first times make me happy. Heck, any Monaboyd makes me happy! :) Eta: Many thanks to
light_the_sky76 for the lovely Monaboyd drabble! *bounces*
4) Chocolate truffles. Mmmmm.
5) Just about anything off the Tribal to the Max eBay site or their main site tribalmax.com. I love their Afghan Kutchi jewellery (even if it was originally bits of camel harness *g*). Seriously addictive.
6) To be able to dance like Rachel Brice or Sharon Kihara.
7) To look like Sharon Kihara! (She's the one on the left. And she looks even more amazing in real life). Or here. Ok, maybe not the one where she's painted green ...
8) To have Edge as my personal eroticism consultant. Cos I'm too nice to have him as my sex slave. (Wot? Well, nobody said they had to be realistic wishes! As evidenced by wish number 7.) Or Billy. Or Dom. I'm not fussy :)
9) To hear U2 live again.
10) To have more time to spend with my family and dance and read fics and books and listen to music and learn to drum and watch dvds, but still earn enough to help support us without having to worry about money.

Well, Happy Christmas (or whichever festival you celebrate) and I hope as many of your wishes come true as possible :)
