Damn day *kicks computer desk*

Damn toothache - bloody agony, and stopping me getting more than three hours sleep a night for the last few days.

Damn dentist who, when I pointed out that I was getting some twinges of pain in my upper teeth, airily dismissed my observation with 'oh they look alright - you're probably just grinding your teeth in your sleep'. I think not. Twinge progressed to full-fledged agony within a few weeks.

Damn team-mate, who greets me with 'You look really washed out'. Well thanks, that's cheered me up no end. (And I know that's unfair to him as he was just being concerned for my well-being, but I'm on a roll here, so ignore that.)

Damn driver yelling abuse at me at the roundabout.

Damn PMT. Skin has gone horribly pasty and spotty on top of everything else.

Damn Resource Management department who now won't give us special leave for domestic emergencies (quote from Employee Guide, 'such as burst pipes or flooding') unless we book it in advance. Oh right, I'll be sure to plan my domestic emergencies well in advance, thanks. So, when the kids are ill you can't claim a measly 3 days special leave per annum but have to take it out of your holiday leave. Right, I'll get my kids to consult with me in advance when they're going to be ill, shall I? Right.

Damn work sending Alan off to Wales for a meeting for the day and making him set the alarm for 4am to get the first flight and make him get the last flight home. He may make it back before midnight, but I doubt it. And they expect him back in the office tomorrow. That's all I need when I finally overcome the toothache enough to get to sleep to sleep at 2am, an alarm 2 hours later. Could I get back to sleep? Could I hell. The pain finally started to wear off and I started to doze off just as my alarm went off.

Damn roadworks. What possessed Newcastle roads department to schedule roadworks on all the bottlenecks at the same time? That Vickers roundabout is the worst-designed road junction it has ever been my misfortune to sit fuming at, waiting for a gap in the traffic. And they reduce the road leading to it to one lane. Just before rush hour. (The cones were not there mid-morning.) And are they actually doing anything constructive in the empty lane? Well, what do you think? It took me an hour and a half to get home tonight, instead of 30-odd minutes. And if I hadn't done a u-turn and gone by all the back roads through the dodgier areas of Newcastle I'd still have been there yet. I was planning on getting home early tonight.

Damn kids from next door. We're not even out of the car before they're over cluttering up the place when I'm attempting to get my two to do their homework, will not leave even when I tell them that my two are not going to be allowed to play tonight as it's half-an-hour till bedtime and they have homework to do, and make me come perilously close to being abrupt with, if not positively rude to, them. They're nice kids but sometimes I want the house to ourselves. Just once in a while. Cue foot-stamping screaming tantrum from my eldest who yells that she'd rather live on the streets than here because I'm horrible.

Damn hay-fever.

Damn offspring who will not get ready for bed, will not stay in bed, will not stay quiet, will not lie down and just damn well sleep, dammit! until I get to the stage where I'm literally screaming at them.

Damn, fucking, bloody horrible day (and I hate swearing but this day bloody well demands it).

*is seriously tempted to scream and throw something through the window*

*snarls and goes off to find emergency chocolate*
