Friday, 27 February 2009 00:44I've just spent the evening watching ballet being performed by some very pretty men in tutus *g*
It was the Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, and they were a) hilarious, and b) blooming good dancers.
Some made more convincing ballerinas than others (some were distinctly hefty, other could have passed for women had it not been for the chest hair), but they could all dance really well. At times you almost forgot you were watching men in drag, you were so swept up in the grace and beauty of the dancing.
And then there were moments like the Dying Swan solo (moulting a trail of feathers across the stage) where I was weeping with laughter so much I could barely see. The prima donna milking the applause for all that it was worth. The fighting over the bouquet presented to the prima ballerina.
They're from New York but are touring the UK atm. If you get the chance to see them, take it. They're brilliant.
And they all had fantastic legs *g*

Date: Friday, 27 February 2009 09:19 (UTC)At one point I was sitting imagining what Lyle's reaction would be if Lester took him to see that:
'Hang on a minute, that ballerina's got a bulge under her tutu. And chest hair!''

Date: Friday, 27 February 2009 08:43 (UTC)I did a thinly-weiled Trock-slash at one point featuring their Swan Lake and Ludwig of Bavaria (must upload it again).
They've recently taken on a lot of new dancers some of whom are extra-pretty.
And yes - they're serious dancers who've taught me more about ballet and its traditions than almost any other company.

Some of them were very pretty indeed *g* It was no hardship to watch them, I'm telling you :) Ballet isn't a dance form I've trained in, so I'm not an expert, but from a general dance perspective but they looked excellent.
