Wednesday, 9 April 2008 20:06We had a puncture last night on the way home from work to pick the kids up from holiday club - we phoned up to say we'd be late but would get there asap. We changed the wheel and arrived about three-quarters of an hour late - unfortunate, but can't be helped.
Today we got a letter from holiday club to say that they were charging us an extra £49. That was £9 overtime and £40 lateness fee.
£49!!!!
I knew we had to pay a fee if we turned up late, but I remembered it was something like a fiver. £40 seems excessively punitive to me. If we'd known it would be that much I could have spent £35 - 40 on a taxi the 22 miles or so from Newcastle and it would still have been cheaper.
What really narked me though was the tone of the letter - lecturing us, and telling us we'd have to arrange for someone else to pick up the kids if it happened again.
I really am going to have to see if I can find another childcare place for the girls during the holidays. The woman who runs it really got my back up from the first time I met her. Our ex-childminder works there with the babies, and she's lovely, but the management are horrible.
*sigh*
Childcare just seems to get more and more complicated the older the kids get.
Ah well, at least I have another Sanctuary!bunny hopping about in my head, although it was hopelessly distracting at work today.
Someone rich plz pay me to stay at home and write porn? *plaintive look*
