Saturday, 29 January 2005 23:20Sara Farouk complimented me on my dancing!
*is well chuffed*
I love her dancing - so expressive. Understated, but powerful. I can relate to that style much more than I can to the in-your-face, busy, flashy stuff you tend to get with the more cabaret-oriented styles. Much more of a genuine connection with the audience.
Her workshops today were fascinating - not so much the technique, as the feeling, how you feel about your body, and relating to the audience, making yourself open to them.
Looking forward to tomorrow's one, where she's going to teach us the choreography she performed last night.
I think her advice to me about leaving my specs off (as they can become a bit of a barrier between audience and performer, kind of like a firewall to hide behind) might be the impetus I needed to get around to starting up with contact lenses again. It's about time I went back to them.
