Apophallation:
When some types of hermaphroditic slugs mate, their penises twine together like a corkscrew. If they can't disentangle after mating, one of the slugs will chew off either its own or its partner's penis, leaving the 'apophallated' individual as a permanent female.

ahaha, do you remember, back in lotrps days, that apple_pi would sometimes write ficlets using her "word of the day" emails as a prompt? i'd like to have seen her tackle this one...
