(no subject)

Works Christmas Lunch yesterday - found a nice patchwork velvet top to wear at it from the local hippy shop. It looked lush - you can't really go wrong with velvet at Christmas. (Unfortunately I mislaid one of my favourite necklaces - a long rope of lapis lazuli, freshwater pearls and quartz crystals, tied in a knot - I think I may have left it in the changing room, but the guy who runs the shop couldn't find it when I phoned the next day. Maybe I mislaid it at home. Ah well, it might turn up sometime.)

I was chatting to one of my work friends (who happens to be F's godmother) and we got on to the subject of cousins of ours in the performing arts, and she asked me "Do you know the tv show 'Primeval'?" (Well, I think you all know the answer to that one!).
Turns out one of her cousins is Ben Mansfield!
Apparently she hasn't actually met him, but she knows his grandfather really well (who is seemingly quite a character, and was a Spitfire pilot in WWII). It sounds like Ben takes after his grandfather, has the same twinkle in his eye, and is a nice lad who visits his grandfather (or grandparents, I didn't quite catch which) every other weekend. Bless :)
F was really excited when I told her, and announced "I'm related to someone famous!!". I laughed and pointed out that although K was her godmother she wasn't actually related, so F changed it to "I'm sort of almost related to someone famous!!" :)

I did my now-traditional stint on the dancefloor with one of Alan's mates who loves dancing, and as ever turned a few heads (especially some of the new recruits who hadn't heard that I was a bellydance teacher and were gobsmacked by the way I moved. I'm so quiet at work, people are stunned when they see me dance as it's such a contrast). I love getting complimented on my dancing :)
