Alan went out to dig out the car this morning so I could take the youngest to school (apparently her school is open, but the school bus isn't running) and came back in to inform me that the car thermometer read -17 degrees C.

Minus seventeen degrees C.

I decided I'm not driving anywhere today. The roads still look bad.

Yikes! It's only -2 here, but that's chilly enough! Have just done a bit of shopping, and I'm not going anywhere till I have to go to work later.

Our central heating is on constant and we still have ice on the inside of all the windows.
I was meant to be going to a doctor's appointment and work's christmas lunch, but I've cancelled.

Hibernation is looking more and more appealing (although chance would be a fine thing, with the kids around!)

I think there's actually more ice on the inside of the kitchen window now than there was when I got up.

I'm not sure what the temperature here is but it must be below zero. I've got over a foot of snow in my garden and no cars can get onto my estate because the roads are so bad.
